The Musicians Foundation - Supporting Music Education

Recently released federal statistics have revealed that in 2012, student loan debt has now surpassed credit card borrowing as the number one source of personal debt in the United States. This sobering news underscores the reality that the high cost of borrowing funds to cover ever-increasing college tuition, has forced many students' dreams of pursuing a post-secondary education into the realm of near-impossibility.

The Musicians Foundation (a non-profit 501 (c)3 organization established in 2004) was founded to assist students in achieving their dreams of pursuing a post-secondary education at Musicians Institute. Granting scholarships to students both on the basis of hardship and talent, The Musicians Foundation bridges the gap between hope and reality for dozens of students every year. In order to raise funding from private, community and institutional donors in support of the Musicians Institute (MI) Scholarship fund, The Musicians Foundation fosters relationships with alumni, industry leaders, government representatives and the community at large - striving to inspire action in support of music education by offering direct financial assistance to some of our most deserving students.

With a Board of Directors that includes legendary musicians Stanley Clarke and Sheila E., Editor in Chief of Guitar Player Magazine, Michael Molenda, respected music industry authority Dan Kimpel(Board Chairman), James Leach, Vice President, Writer/Publisher Relations SESAC, Casey Robison, Senior Director, Writer/Publisher Relations BMI, Alex Skolnick, highly respected metal and jazz guitarist, writer, Jody Watley, Grammy winning vocalist, songwriter, producer, Paul Youngblood, Vice President Roland Corp., US; The Musicians Foundation maintains ongoing high-level relationships with the music industry and the artistic community. Managed by officers Beth Marlis, Executive Director, Edgar Carapetian CAO, The Musicians Foundation has awarded over $200,000 in music student scholarships at Musicians Institute since its inception. Most recently, $30,000 in student scholarship funds was raised directly from MI alumni from the proceeds of the 1977-94 MI Alumni/Staff Reunion event resulting in ten new scholarships to be offered during the 2012-2013 school year.
